Young Commuter Fatally Stabbed on Mumbai Fast Suburban Train Following Door Dispute
A 22-year-old salesman, Mayank Lohar from Virar, was fatally stabbed aboard a Mumbai Churchgate–Nalasopara fast suburban train after a door-closing dispute escalated into violence between Andheri and Borivali. The accused fled by jumping from the moving train before Borivali station, prompting a murder investigation by railway police.
The deceased has been identified as Mayank Lohar, a resident of Virar, who was employed as a salesman at a private company in Andheri. According to railway police, Lohar was returning home from work and was travelling in train number 90663 when the incident occurred.
During the journey, due to heavy rain, a coach door was reportedly left open. Lohar requested a fellow passenger to close the door. This request led to an argument between the two, which quickly escalated into a heated confrontation. During the altercation, the accused allegedly pulled out a sharp-edged weapon and stabbed Lohar in the abdomen. The victim collapsed inside the moving train, bleeding severely.
Railway police stated that before the train arrived at Borivali station at 11:04 PM, the accused jumped off the moving train near platform number 6 and fled the scene.
Upon receiving information, Railway Protection Force personnel and Government Railway Police teams reached the location and immediately provided medical assistance to the injured passenger. Lohar was first taken to the emergency medical room at Borivali station and later shifted by ambulance to Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali. He succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Borivali Government Railway Police has registered a murder case and launched a manhunt to trace the accused. Police teams are currently examining CCTV footage from railway stations and train premises and are identifying eyewitnesses to reconstruct the sequence of events.
